She also describes 234 as "steps" along the reader's spiritual and life path, a label she gives other ascending runs as well.

Andrews reads the same digits as an ending that has gone unnoticed. "Angel number 234 means you received an idea, gave it a voice, and built it into something real," she writes, and its shadow is "refusing to see that the work is done". In her account, people who are good at taking in an idea, expressing it and building it tend to keep working past the point of completion, because "completion has a quieter signal than beginning".

Dropping the 1: why 234 totals 9 and 1234 totals 10

Three consecutive digits always add up to three times the middle one, so 2 + 3 + 4 = 3 × 3 = 9. Because its digits sum to 9, 234 itself divides evenly by nine (234 = 9 × 26): a number and the sum of its digits leave the same remainder after division by nine, the rule behind casting out nines.

Putting the 1 back raises the total to 10, and 10 reduces to 1. That single digit is the whole arithmetic difference between the two sequences, and it sends 1234 back to a new beginning. Without it, 234 stops at 9, the last digit before counting starts again. Decoz writes that the 9 as a cycle "often denotes a finality, the completion of an era", and he calls the reading of 9 as death "simplistic and incorrect".
