Angels, wings, ladders, rivers and white doves each have a dream page, and so do comforting, prophetic, warning and visitation dreams. Three practice pages cover dream journals, lucid dreaming and bedtime meditation.
Religious sources judge an angel in a dream by what the angel did and said. The Talmud says true dreams come "by means of an angel," and the hadith sort dreams into those from God, those from Satan and those from one's own mind.
Hospice and grief studies ask how often a kind of dream happens and what it contains. In a survey of 278 bereaved relatives of hospice patients, 58 percent dreamed of the person who died, and most of those dreams were pleasant or mixed.
Laboratory tests have not settled whether prophetic dreams foresee events, because the best-known positive results were not reliably repeated.
A dream journal is the practical place to begin: diary studies by Michael Schredl and Denholm Aspy found that keeping a log raises dream recall for most people.

ReadPaul writes that "even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14), and the Talmud contrasts dreams sent through an angel with dreams sent through a demon (Berakhot 55b). Christian readers therefore test the figure by what it asks.
Some folk dream books say so for particular scenes. No study links angel dreams to deaths, and in hospice research the dying more often dream of relatives who have already died.
Genesis 28 describes angels going up and down while Jacob sleeps on the ground. The passage connects earth and heaven within Jacob's story and does not show Jacob climbing toward success.
People who know they are dreaming do report angels, sometimes after asking for one. Studies of talking dream characters suggest the figure draws on the dreamer's own knowledge, so the encounter cannot show where it came from.
